We would like to thank the Annie E. Casey foundation for its recent grant donation of $15,000 in order to restructure and expand our website. With such funding we will be able to reach our current network with the click of a button and appeal to those interested in serving new fathers domestically and internationally. Since 1948, the Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF) has worked to build better futures for disadvantaged children and their families in the United States. They have also been a very strong supporter of Boot Camp for New Dads.

The Pacific Life Foundation has generously awarded a $10,000 grant to Boot Camp for New Dads to produce an updated program video. The video will be used to give an overview of the program to hospitals and organizations interested in starting a Boot Camp for New Dads workshop, and to introduce Boot Camp to men in Childbirth Education classes at hospitals with existing BCND programs. Additionally, it will also be available for use by Boot Camp facilitators as an in-class introduction to the program. We would like to thank Pacific Life for their commitment to helping dads-to-be get off to the best start possible.

| Boot Camp covered by Macleans, Canada's largest magazine |

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Charlie Gillis of Macleans at one of our Orange County, CA Boot Camp for New Dads. Charlie wrote one of the best description we’ve heard of Boot Camp: “Bring in a few dads with their babies so men [can] actually watch a guy changing diapers . . . let the newbies ask all the stupid questions they’re afraid to utter with their wives around”. Charlie could not have been better suited for the job as he was expecting his own little bundle of joy at the time. And, as fate would have it, mere days after Charlie returned home to Canada and his pregnant wife, she went into early labor. “The baby-handling primer . . . could not have been more timely”. Thanks Charlie!

| Requests for international expansion accelerating |

Other nations requesting help to establish Boot Camp for New Dads. International interest in Boot Camp for New Dads is growing due to our success in the U.S and rising concern about fatherhood in many other countries. Greg Bishop, Boot Camp for New Dads founder and Head Coach, was invited to present Boot Camp at England’s national fatherhood conference, sponsored by Fathers Direct, in April 2005. Fathers Direct has since restored options to develop the workshop for fathers-to-be in England, under the name Hit the Ground Crawling and most recently asked for assistance for establishing workshops for teenage fathers. We have also received requests from members of the International Lamaze and Childbirth Education associations from South Africa and Mexico, and we are responding to requests from Canada that were generated by a major article on Boot Camp in Macleans, Canada’s largest magazine. Other requests for assistance have come from Australia and Singapore and we have enjoyed significant news coverage on Boot Camp in Japan, Germany, South Korea and Brazil.
