That's right...Boot Camp Coaches do Time; magazine that is. Check out the full article in the current issue of Time Magazine on newstands or online here.
We also have the article uploaded, which can be viewed if you look on the full News page. From the home page, Under Current News, click on "More...", under the Time Image, click on View PDF and the article should automatically open.
Greg Bishop, Margie Wallace and Chuck Ault wrote an article for the March 2008 edition of the International Journal of Childbirth Education entitled "How to Prepare Men to be Fathers". It's a great article about how to involve fathers in child birth classes and prepare them for the adventure ahead.
Boot Camp for New Dads & Dads Adventure is teaming up with Babies R Us to give men an introduction to fatherhood.
On June 8th, from 7pm-8:30pm, all Boot Camp Coaches are invited to their local Babies R Us stores to put on a mini Boot Camp, entitled Crash Course for New Dads. There will be a 20 minute video to play, which will be followed up with a question and answer session on issues new dads face. Coaches will bring flyers and share information on their BCND programs. There will also be a checklist that is handed out from the soon to be released book, Crash Course for New Dads.

The cornerstone of any successful Boot Camp for New Dads program is an informed, energetic, and fully prepared coaching staff. The Coach’s role is central to important issues regarding the return of veteran dads to the program, excellent outcomes for rookie dads, media attention, and general excitement about the program within your community. Simply said, the coach is the key component of an effective Boot Camp workshop.
We are delighted to offer you and your team of coaches a unique training opportunity designed especially for existing as well as brand new Boot Camp coaches. The Master Coach Certification Training at the National Boot Camp Training Center in Denver was created by the National Training Team with you in mind. It promises to advance your skills, broaden your experience, and provide ample opportunities to network with other coaches from Boot Camp programs across the country. Most importantly, only participants in the Denver Master Coach Training may attain the highest certification available to a Boot Camp coach, and bring back the latest skills and information to the parents and practitioners in their home communities.
This all-new, specially-designed, cutting edge two-day event is led by three Boot Camp National Trainers with over 25 years of combined experience leading Boot Camp workshops across the United Sates and England. Its purpose is simple and direct – to build the strongest coaching network possible to bring about positive changes in the lives of the fathers we serve.
You will find below a draft of the Master Coach Certification agenda, and we encourage you to call us with questions and to enroll ASAP. Places are limited, so let us hear from you soon!
We look forward to seeing you in Denver,
Chuck, Doug, & Will The Denver-based Boot Camp for New Dads Training Team
Boot Camp would like to thank the Pacific Life Foundation for its recent donation and their commitment to helping men “hit the ground crawling” in their new roles as fathers. The grant will be used to develop tools for outreach and marketing to new dads and dads-to-be in communities across the U.S.
Dads' Boot Camp

Parents magazine features Boot Camp for New Dads in an article on childbirth education classes in the February, 2008 issue.
Translation: BCND is going around the world! Our program was recently covered in the French famili magazine. French photographer Guia Besana and journalist Tinka Kemptner attended St. Joseph's workshop and captured great moments of Boot Camp. We have also included the translation of the article. Enjoy!
In April, 2005, Fathers Direct, England’s national fatherhood organization, asked me to talk at their national conference in London, and then asked that we collaborate with them in establishing Boot Camp for New Dads in England (under the name Hit The Ground Crawling). David Bartlett of Fathers Direct then worked with Karla, Chuck and I to make it happen. Chuck and I went to Liverpool on May 2-5, where David had worked with Karen Lawrenson to arrange a training program capped by an actual workshop for teen dads-to-be. There were also contingents from London and Birmingham for the training.
It was a huge hit and very gratifying for Chuck and me to see Boot Camp work so well in another country, and particularly with teen fathers. It was great to see Chuck in action as he conducted the training, and the response from the trainees was unanimous –“ it was the best training they ever attended, we proved it works right before their eyes, and equipped them so they could go home and get it up and running.”
My favorite scene (above, right) was of a 16 year old dad-to-be who got hold the star of the show, who was as interested in him as he was her. It was a great group with dedicated mid-wives and professional “father workers”, two 17-18 fathers who were great role models, and four 16-17 year old dads-to-be who were enthusiastic about coming back as vets.
Paul Sterman, an Orange County native, is stepping up to the plate in the role of a lifetime; Fatherhood. But not without some guidance of Boot Camp for New Dads and Saddleback Memorial Coach Sivon Kalminov.
